Cyngor Gwynedd Business Week 2024

We’re is excited to announce the return of Business Week, running from 14 to 18 October 2024. This highly anticipated week-long series of events will take place across various locations in Gwynedd, offering a unique platform for local businesses and organisations to connect, share knowledge, and become inspired for the future.

Business Week Opening Event

We’re heading to Plas Tan y Bwlch, Maentwrog for the next event in our series of business breakfasts, all tailored specifically for businesses operating within the Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales World Heritage Site. This event is free.

What to Expect:

  • Learn about the significance of The Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales’s designation as a World Heritage Site
  • Find out about businesses in the area and their connection to the Slate Landscape, with presentations from local business owners
  • Meet business support organisations and discover how they can support your business
  • An opportunity to network with fellow business owners
  • A bonus activity (to be confirmed) to close the session. Last time we had a tour of Zipworld

This course is available for all events that applied for the Gwynedd SPF Event support fund or have attended a Gwynedd Safety Advisory Group meeting. The offer is limited to one person per organisation/event. 

Please note that the course has limited spaces available, and admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis. In the event of high demand, we may offer an additional course at a later date. 

The course will cover the following areas:

  • Introduction to UK health & safety legislation in the events industry
  • Responsibility for safety at events
  • Understanding the terms hazard, risk, likelihood, and consequence
  • Identifying hazards and writing risk assessments
  • Safe systems of work at events
  • Safety signage and Personal Protective Equipment at events
  • Reporting incidents and accidents
  • Emergency Procedures & Lost Children
  • Security & Terrorism threats

If you’re a tourism business owner in Gwynedd or Eryri wanting to enhance your social media presence, then our ‘Gwynedd & Eryri Ni’ social media masterclass is for you! 

Join us at Eryri National Park offices, Penrhyndeudraeth, on Wednesday 25 or Thursday 26 September, 9:30am – 4:30pm, for an informal session with Rhian Floyd and Dafydd Wyn Orritt from top bilingual communications agency, Equinox.  

You will learn about:  

  • Developing a social media strategy. 
  • Maintaining engagement with your followers. 
  • Creating good content. 
  • Building an online community. 
  • Driving sales/bookings via your website. 
  • Utilising more Cymraeg online — utilising the Welsh Language Commissioner’s Cynnig Cymraeg provision. 
  • Promoting sustainable practices (without having to preach!) 
  • Sustainable tourism partnership opportunities and grant aid. 
  • Becoming an ambassador for your local area and accessing local business toolkits. 
  • The Gwynedd & Eryri Ni campaign — and upcoming Code of Conduct. 

And what's more, there will be an opportunity for attendees to book 121 follow-up sessions with the trainers — offering the chance to receive feedback and advice! On the 9/08/2023 it was Prosperous Gwynedd Day within the Cyngor Gwynedd tent and this led to an exiting Busnes@Gwynedd panel where Daloni Metcalfe and Lesley Griffiths MP, Minister for Rural Affairs and North Wales, spoke with local businesses Meian, Mary Gwen and Dylunio Wyn about their products, services and their relationship with the Welsh language.   

The Cyngor Gwynedd Business Day was a unique opportunity for businesses and organisations operating in Gwynedd to come together to meet, learn, share and develop new ideas and strategies.

The event provided a comprehensive overview of the business climate in Gwynedd and the various types of support available to help businesses navigate challenges and seize opportunities.

The morning session featured three local businesses sharing their stories of innovation, challenges faced, and opportunities found.

In response to the cost-of-living crisis and increased cost of running a business, a webinar was held for small to medium sized businesses located in Gwynedd that looked at ways of improving business efficiency to reduce costs and ways of increasing revenue.

In response to the cost of living crisis and current economic climate, the Council's Business Support Unit recently hosted a webinar for local businesses offering advice on business efficiency measures which could reduce their overheads and carbon emissions.
