Cogs y Gogs Case Study
Business: Cogs y Gogs
Location: Caernarfon
Grant amount: £7,028.00
For Neil Jones, founder of Cogs y Gogs, a Cyngor Gwynedd Spark Fund grant of £7,028 helped him to future-proof his business by purchasing specialist equipment to repair electric bikes. This investment has allowed Neil to expand into a rapidly growing market and secure the long-term success of his venture.
Originally starting in 2019 as a mobile bicycle mechanic alongside his day job, Neil transitioned to running Cogs y Gogs full-time in 2020. With determination, he built a thriving business but recognised the increasing popularity of e-bikes as a key opportunity for growth.
“Now we specialise in diagnostics, repairs, and e-bike kits, we’ve been able to future-proof the business using the Spark Fund to purchase equipment that would otherwise make the job incredibly difficult,” explains Neil.
Thanks to this grant, Cogs y Gogs is well-prepared to meet growing demand, with plans to recruit additional staff as the business continues to expand.
