Name: Hannah Williams
Lives in: Gellilydan
Job: Events Management Professional Trainee
Qualification: MA Creative Events Management
Background:
I attended Ysgol Y Moelwyn secondary school and I went on to complete my AS Levels at Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy. I completed my degree in events management at John Moores University, Liverpool, in 2019.
My plan after finishing at university was to return home to Gwynedd and hope to get a full-time job, within the events field. I was fortunate enough to get a temporary job as an events coordinator in Portmeirion. I enjoyed my time there and I had excellent experiences of working on a number of weddings, conferences and special events.
During the lockdown period, I changed my career and I worked as a student counsellor at Grŵp Llandrillo Menai. After that job, I was appointed as student enrichment officer.
I was aware of Cynllun Yfory and I understood that it was an excellent opportunity to work for the local authority and to complete a master's degree and work full-time. When the opportunity came about to apply for a professional trainee job in events management on the scheme, I did not have to think twice before submitting an application. I was aware that the Council supports a variety of events and that being a part of that would give me an excellent experience and a great opportunity for me to develop my skills and network with key players within the events industry.
I have been in the role of professional trainee in the events management field for about 4 months and I have had the warmest of welcomes and best experiences. I will be starting my master's course in January. I am very excited to return to education. After completing my master's degree, I will take the role of events manager. I hope that I will have had the opportunity to develop the various skills that I will need during the three-year period before I take on this role.
