Care homes
A care home provides accommodation and care for people who need extra support in their daily life. Professional staff are on hand 24 hours a day to support people to live as independently as possible in a safe environment.
Several types of care homes exist with some providing a more specialist care with registered nurses available to provide care. Care homes can be managed by local authorities, independent companies and voluntary organisations.
As well as living in a care home full time, it is possible to spend a temporary period of recovery in a care home following illness or a period in the Hospital or to give family/friends a break from caring.
