Gisda

Gisda, a Caernarfon-based charity supporting vulnerable young people, has received a £75,000 grant from the ARFOR programme to enhance its Welsh language provision and staff development.

The funding has enabled Gisda to employ a Recruitment and Training Leader to improve staff retention, provide training through the medium of Welsh, and implement a Welsh Language Framework to ensure all services operate bilingually. The role also supports the creation of new training, job opportunities, and activities for young people.

The grant has further supported the rebranding of Gisda’s café, Lle Ni, ensuring its image and service remain Welsh, giving young people the confidence to access support and participate in activities in their chosen language.

Elizabeth George, Head of Business at Gisda, said: “This grant has enabled Gisda to build on our holistic service, ensuring young people can access support in their chosen language. It also helps maintain a strong Welsh identity across our hubs, offering job and training opportunities through the medium of Welsh.”

This investment strengthens Gisda’s commitment to promoting the Welsh language while creating a culturally rich environment for staff and service users.
